about me

If you are wandering what I am talking or ranting and raving about, well, actually I dont know either....cos I am new to this and this is my trial run. I am about half past the century so i guess no one would actually read my blog page...oh well you win some and you lose a lot...lol...I live in the land below the wind , in a small town, with lots of happy people , no we are not drunk, well at least I think they are happy, I am, thats all that matters.
My kids are all grown up and studying in different parts of the world....the apron strings these days can be very long indeed! So, now I have time on my hands to keep up with technology and learn how to blog. However I still dont know how to put pictures in yet. But that will come a bit later. I think that is enough about me.....so boring! even to me.
Last saturday,I attended a wedding dinner of my former student. She married a handsome Korean. I am so happy for her and for whats coming. Then last nite I attended another wedding of another former student ....you get the drift of what a dinosaur I am. Its so good to see these young ones still believing in the institution of marriage. How proud their parents must be. My time will come. But dont worry boys I am not in a hurry.
Life is good here in this small town. So many things to do if you can find the time to stop worrying, and complaining and stop to smell the roses!....or rather the char siew from mile 4 market, the suikow from simsim or the siew up from mile 1 market....hmmmm....
If you dont want to gorge in food you can go down to the new market in town and browse amongst the many stalls selling pearls from the Phillipines. We went there on the 5/6 a friday. Winnie ,myself, Dora and Pat. Took my little matrix as parking can be a nitemare if you accidently drove into the sea. The first reaction when we got out of the car was how the smell of fish can drive a pregnant woman to deliver instantly, but as neither of us were pregnant we overcame that and flew up the stairs ( oh it was hot! ) to the shade of the pearl market. There to our disapointment Dora's favourite stall was closed...grumble grumble...walked to the next one. Lo and behold they had the same stuff and was even cheaper...well, when then lord closes one door he opens another....look look, touch touch, whisper whisper, bargained and bought. Did you think we left that place without buying? Then guess what? the owner of the stall that was closed is also the owner of the stall we were standing at....why am I not surprised? One man probably owns all the stalls there. If you dont get fleeced at one stall you will probably get fleeced at another....hahaha....thinkingthat you've had a good bargain....actually my friends , they are laughing all the way to Phillipines!!
Since we still had money left as the pearls were "so" cheap, we went down to the fruit market. Winnie had to go get papayas..heheh..we bought avarcados. Cheap and good. that was what Dora told me and I believed. Well I am happy to say they were good.
Still having more money left in "someone's" wallet, we went to the goldsmith. All the oohs and ahhhs flew about in the shop for about 1 hour. Someone bought a pretty chain and crucifix. the rest of us only went back with our avarcados and sweetcorn. That trip took up the whole morning. we were supposed to go to Sabah hotel to compare the market pearls with the real thing...sabah pearls!!...even a blind man can see the difference, but as we are not blind we had to see for ourselves!!...you know how 'pat' '8' we all are...seeing is believing and all that...why do I need to make an excuse for something women were born to do..its genetic..or that time of the month..ooophs...with out total age past 230, I guess I cant use that excuse huh?
Anyway the concluding line of this story is that we never made it to Sabah Hotel. We stopped at the herbalist instead as it was right next to my car. Even there we made a racket. How exciting can dusty shrivelled herbs be? I walked away with my" toochee piang' . I was happy! With a car full of goodies and happy people we went home like good like Noddy!.......
